CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

The AHSCP is committed to ensuring that CPHS maintain a level of knowledge that is current and relevant within and across the hydrographic surveying profession. This is achieved by linking certification with Continuing Professional Development (CPD), which is administered by the AHS and the S+SNZ CPD Committees respectively.

Initial certification is valid for one (1) year after being conferred, i.e. there is no CPD requirement during the first year of certification.

Subsequently, in order to retain certification, a CPHS must be either a current AHS Professional Member or a current member of the S+SNZ, and maintain Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in accordance with the AHSCP Guidelines and adhere to the respective organisations’ Code of Ethics.

CPHS are required to demonstrate and report CPD on an annual basis in accordance with their respective organisation’s policy.

Continue to keep records of any CPD activities you are currently undertaking using the CPD Activity Log so you can upload these records once we have a new CPD system in place and encourage others that you communicate with to do the same. Download CPD Activity Log Excel

S+SNZ Members

S+SNZ requires 20 points annually.  Core CPD is considered to be any CPD activity that is linked to a subject contained within the S-5A or S-5B syllabus.  CPD is required every year post initial certification.

If your certification has lapsed, you are required to apply for re-certification in accordance with the current AHSCP Recertification Process at the time of application.

Failure of members to commit to CPD leads to the removal of the individual’s name from the Register of Current Certified Professionals in Hydrographic Surveying. To regain certification, it is necessary to apply for re-certification.

The AHSCP adheres strictly to the currency requirement of an individual’s hydrographic surveying experience, and CPD audits are conducted annually on 30 June for the previous 12 months. A new CPD year commences 01 July.

Further details of the CPD requirements are found in the AHS Continuing Professional Development Policy (soon to be released here) and the S+SNZ Policy for Continuing Professional Development (www.surveyspatialnz.org).
